Introduction

Environmental sustainability is no longer a choice—it is a responsibility. Tapas Foundation, in partnership with Generali Central Life Insurance, reaffirms its commitment to building a greener, more resilient future by actively contributing to ecological restoration and community development.

This initiative focuses on nature-based solutions that address climate change, biodiversity loss and rural livelihood enhancement. By investing in agroforestry plantations, we are integrating environmental stewardship with social impact, creating long-term value for both people and the planet.

The project was implemented in Tawlagarh Tanda village, located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, Maharashtra, a region where sustainable land-use practices

play a critical role in strengthening rural ecosystems and supporting local communities.

Agroforestry: A Sustainable Approach

Agroforestry is a land-use system that integrates trees with agricultural practices,

offering a powerful solution to environmental and socio-economic challenges. Under this project, agroforestry was chosen as the core plantation model to maximise long-term impact.

Environmental Benefits

Enhances soil fertility and prevents erosion
Improves water retention and land productivity
Supports biodiversity by creating natural habitats
Contributes to carbon sequestration and climate mitigation

Livelihood and Economic Benefits

Fruit-bearing trees such as Guava, Mango, and Lemon provide recurring income opportunities for local farmers
Timber species like Sagwan (Teak) offer long-term economic security
Encourages sustainable farming practices and resource efficiency

By adopting agroforestry, the project moves beyond short-term plantation efforts and

establishes a regenerative system that benefits both ecosystems and communities over time.

Our Impact

200 agroforestry saplings planted, enhancing green cover and ecological balance
Diverse native and productive species introduced: Guava, Mango, Lemon, and Sagwan (Teak)
6 employees actively engaged, strengthening organisational commitment to sustainability
28 family and friends involved

Planting Impact Through Agroforestry

This project stands as a testament to Generali Central Life Insurance’s dedication to sustainability, climate action, and inclusive development. Through agroforestry, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, the initiative creates measurable impact today while laying the foundation for a greener tomorrow.

Together, these efforts nurture not just trees, but thriving ecosystems and empowered communities.
